![]() Have to say,the sunglasses and mustache are a great look, On a searial and let them drive away with it? does the prop come with the boat for who ever buys it and will you prove the speed to them I tell him to bring it back and if I can't drive it over 90, I'll buy it from him. I keep telling him that it's not the boat, IT'S HIM. He still calls every few months saying his mechanic says there's something wrong with the boat because it's UNSAFE over 70. I drove it over 90 every time before he picked it up and even went 90 with both of us in it. I set up one guys 2003 21 Checkmate with a 300x. They all went way faster than 90 when I drove them. I have sold a couple of the fast Checkmates, but nobody has been able to drive them even 90 yet. When someone buys a boat from me, they get whatever prop they want. That's their proprietary business and they'e entitled to make a buck with it. Readers would write in and complain that I didn't print Monty's, or Brucato's, or Diamond's, or whoever's secrets. I used to get this all the time when I wrote for BWB and Hot Boat. When you're in business to sell boats, you have every right to protect your hard work. I'm all for helping people out but there's a limit. You want to go fast in a Checkmate or Liberator, then you have choices.buy it from Randy and pay the price for his time and effort and expertise (which, by the way, from what I have seen his pricing for all this speed is extremely reasonable, not to mention the top notch work) or you buy it another way or from another dealer and put the time, money and effort into it yourself. It's called free enterprise and hard work. If you want to buy a fast new Checkmate, then I'm your guy. I am the only Checkmate dealer in the country that's does my own rigging and setup. Since I am a boat dealer, I need to have some advantages over other dealers. Then I'd make him get out of my boat w/o touching anything  Get it to repeat those #'s and I'll write a check. If I were one of those guys, I'd meet Randy at the ramp and tell him to bring that boat and a GPS. W/the style and look, creature comforts, civility around the dock, etc, etc. For the customer that can afford one, I think an easy sale. Randy now has "family" boats doing what you and I are used to needing 600 lb hulls and hot rod motors for. There is a dealer in Mansfield Ohio that used to do the same thing back in the day and Checkmate used to publish his testing #'s in their dealer info packets. I'm going to loose my mind when you fly one of these Big Family Boats, past my Allison !!! I'm sure your not sharing everything you have learned with them. Have they been able to get any of these boats to perform the way you have ? I would say a 19p, or maybe even a 21p would be better.Randy, What do the guys at CheckMate say, when you report these tp end numbers to them ? Side note * the prop was a 17p on a 115hp merc. Overall the boats ride and feel of a boat bigger than a 16ft and the family and I look forward to a summer of skiing/tubing fun. like I said not a problem just pointing it out. Not really a problem, just tap the throttle and push threw. The little boat would just get pulled around with the current. Idling in and out if some canals was different. I even cut behind a couple cruisers to hit there wakes to see how she felt. The boat handled remarkably well and my wife and I both stayed dry and secure. But keep in mind this is not a race boat so I dont think its an issue.Īfter playing in the smooth water I headed out to the chop, nothing major maybe some 1-2ft of washing machine style waters. Under hard turns I was able get some cavitation from the prop and a little slide out of the boat. The way it pulled out of the hole and how quick I hit max rpm told me the previous owner used this for tubing/skiing and I'll be looking for a bigger wheel soon. Top speed was nothing to brag about, this I guessed had to do with the prop. It must have jumped up within 20ft or less. When I pushed the throttle forward the boat came on plane faster than ANY boat I have ever been in. So the wife and I put the sucker in at the local ramp, fired it right up and headed out to the water (with our hand-held radio and boat US tow card). I have been battling a head/sinus/chest cold for the past 5 days but yesterday I figured we better test this boat as we bought it after only running it on the hose.
